Starting time/temperature/pressure bands for common transfer types. Always defer to your film brand chart and log what works on your press.

How it works / formula

This is a lookup guide of common starting ranges used by many shops. It is not a substitute for manufacturer documentation or a calibration test on your press.

Worked example

Example (illustrative)

  • DTF often starts near 300°F for 10–15 seconds with medium–firm pressure. Always verify peel (cold vs warm) for your film brand.

Frequently asked questions

Why did my transfer lift after wash?

Common causes: low temperature, short time, weak pressure, or washing before full cure. Re-test with manufacturer settings.

Why did the transfer scorch?

Too hot, too long, or uneven pressure. Drop temperature or time and verify platen contact.

Cold peel vs hot peel?

Follow the film instructions. Peeling early/late is a top cause of incomplete transfers.

Do hats use the same settings as shirts?

Often no — curved platens and thicker blanks change heat delivery. Use hat-specific guidance.
