Recommended embroidery/DTF widths for front, side and back hat placements by style.

Hat decoration fails when chest-size graphics are forced onto a crown. Pick a hat style and placement for starting max widths and a 300 DPI pixel width.

Always mock up on the blank — foam, mesh and curved panels change what looks balanced.

How it works / formula

Lookup table of common max widths by style and placement, then pixels = width × 300 DPI.

Worked example

Example (illustrative)

  • Structured front ≈ 2.25 in → 675 px wide at 300 DPI.

Are Hat Print Size Guide results exact for production?

Treat them as planning estimates. Calibrate against your equipment, invoices and waste logs before you lock customer quotes.
