CM to Inches Converter (Print)

Convert centimetres to inches for print sizes, with optional 300 DPI pixel width.

New here? Jump to how it works · FAQ

International clients often specify apparel and DTF widths in centimetres. This converter turns cm into inches (and the reverse) and optionally shows the matching pixel width at 300 DPI so you can build the file without guessing.

Rounding too early is a common reprint cause — keep two or three decimal places for file setup, then round only on the customer-facing quote.

How it works / formula

Calculation steps

  1. inches = centimetres ÷ 2.54 (exact by definition).
  2. centimetres = inches × 2.54.
  3. Optional pixels at 300 DPI = inches × 300.
  4. Use the result in Inches to Pixels or the T-Shirt Print Size Guide before you place art on a garment template.

Worked example

Example (illustrative)

  • A client wants a 30 cm chest print. 30 ÷ 2.54 ≈ 11.81 in. At 300 DPI that is about 3543 px wide. Building a “12 inch” file is close — but 11.81 in is what they asked for.

Assumptions & limitations

This calculator provides an estimate for planning and quoting. Actual results vary with supplier pricing, ink coverage, waste, labour rates, equipment and marketplace fee changes. Always verify critical numbers before production. See the disclaimer.

Common apparel widths

cm in (approx)
10 cm 3.94 in (left chest range)
28 cm 11.02 in (full front)
35 cm 13.78 in (large back)

Frequently asked questions

Is 2.54 exact?

Yes — the inch is defined as exactly 2.54 centimetres.

Should I round inches for RIP software?

Keep 2–3 decimals in the working file. Round on invoices if you want cleaner customer numbers.

Does this replace a full print-size guide?

No — it converts units. Still confirm placement with the T-Shirt or Hat size guides.
