How it works / formula

Calculation steps

  1. Volumetric weight (lb) = (L × W × H in inches) ÷ divisor.
  2. Billable weight = max(actual lb, volumetric lb).
  3. Common US domestic divisor is 139; some international services use 166. Your account contract may differ — confirm with the carrier.

Example (illustrative)

  • 18×14×4 in = 1008 in³ ÷ 139 ≈ 7.25 lb volumetric. If actual is 3 lb, billable is 7.25 lb.
